The Haliburton Highlands Family Health Team, incorporated July 12, 2006, is very fortunate to have a Board of Directors that are experienced in health care and dedicated to improving access to primary care.

2. Director - Chair

Scott Coles () / Physician
Dr. Coles has been cottaging in Haliburton County since birth. After graduating from the University of Toronto's Medical Program, he went on to complete his family practice residency with the Northeastern Ontario Family Medicine program of the University of Ottawa.
As a physician, he first came to Haliburton County as a locum in Summer 1996, then moved permanently here to set up his family practice in 1998. Since that time, he has fulfilled a variety of roles including Chief of Staff of the Haliburton Highlands Health Services and has been the Lead Physician for the Haliburton Highlands Family Health Network since 2002.
Scott has played an integral role in the success of the Family Health Team since the first lead partner meeting in December of 2004, having chaired the steering committee through planning, proposals, applications and development.

3. Director - Vice Chair

Christine Stephenson () / Physician
Also serving in the capacity of Medical Director for the corporation, Dr. Stephenson has been on the Board of Directors since its inception. Dr. Stephenson graduated from the medical program of the University of Ottawa in 1986. She completed a one year rotating internship at Toronto East General and then arrived in the Haliburton Highlands as a summer locum in 1987. After a short locum in New Zealand, Tina returned in November 1988 and has become an vital member of the medical team.
Dr. Stephenson has fulfilled the role of Medical Director at Highland Wood Long-Term Care Facility for the past seven years. She enjoys running and gardening and identifies her most important job as being the mother of two active children.

Aoife Conway () / Physician
A native of Calgary, Alberta, Dr. Conway has been coming to the Haliburton Highlands for nearly 20 years as a visiting physician before she joined the Haliburton Highlands Family Health Network in 1994. Dr. Conway graduated from the University of Calgary's School of Medicine, and then went on to complete her Family Medicine Residency in Kingston, Ontario at Queen's University.
Dr. Conway is an avid golfer in the summer and has been known to wield a skillful hockey stick in the winter, although she claims to have retired from the sport. She enjoys traveling.
Aoife joined the Family Health Team Board of Directors in the Fall of 2008.
Kim Ballantyne () / Health Executive
Kim Ballantyne is currently the Regional Manager - HKPR Hospitals with the Central East Community Care Access Centre. As a graduate of the University of Toronto with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing in 1993, she has worked as an RN in an acute care setting, a long term care facility, been a visiting and hospital nurse in the community, a case manager in the CCAC and has held a variety of management positions within the CCAC. Some of her achievements within the CCAC include the development of the Case Management Model for Short-Stay Clients as well as the Case Management Model for the Haliburton Highlands Family Health Team. Kim is a strong advocate for improving and providing quality health care and has participated in many internal and external committees to represent the health needs of the residents of Haliburton County.
Paul Rosebush () / Health Executive
Paul Rosebush is the President and CEO of the Haliburton Highlands Health Services, having assumed his new role in January 2009. Paul came to the Highlands most recently from the Northwest Territories where he was CEO for the Hay River Health and Social Services Authority since 2007.
Prior to his experiences in the north, Paul fulfilled leadership positions with the Community Living Ajax, Pickering & Whitby and the Regional Municipality of Durham in the Family Services Department. His management career was preceeded by a 20-year military career with Canadian Forces as a uniformed social work officer, serving in Canada as well as Rwanda, Bosnia and Croatia.
Paul holds a MSW degree from the University of Manitoba, an Honours BSW from Laurentian University and a Social Services Diploma from Fleming College. Paul further holds post-graduate certificates in a number of specialties, including Dispute Resolution from the University of Windsor.
Throughout his career, Paul has lead the way in developing and delivering client focused health and social services.
